My name is Geoff and I am 45 years old today. I was born and raised in the USA as an American. I am the middle of five children and one of two boys and I am the eldest son. I have three great sisters and my parents have been deceased due to cancer and both died one year apart in 1981 and 1983. My father married Mom late. He was 36 and the youngest of thirteen children born in French Canada and moved to the States in the depression era where he became an established American and successful in the nursing home health care business. My mother was 28 when she married Dad. She was a nurse and only one of two siblings in her household. She and my uncle - her brother were very close.
My Dad was a loving man and his way of loving his sons was to give us anything we wanted and to work, work, work. He didn't touch us in a physical tactile way alot but was just there in the best way he knew how. I obviously needed to be shown more affectionate love. Craving affection from my father, I desired same sex love and affirmation in a paternal way. So I went the other way and saught out same sex sex in a homoerotic way instead.
At 15 I had my first homosexual experience with an older man and used artificial IDs, so I was entering nightclubs in Boston illegally at an early age. I began heavily drinking alcohol and taking drugs. My parents knew there was something wrong and different but I didn't cry out and speak up and they just remained silent.
At 21, I was in a serious car accident with my lover who was an African American male. At the scene of the accident, my praying sister Christine and my Catholic born again grandomother asked me to at least "give JESUS a try and a chance". I did and had a radical born again conversion. It was after that, I converted to a heterosexual lifestyle. It was through the help and grace of God that I was able to let go of homosexuality and desired women as God planned for us.
Within two years, I started a counselling ministry named "Redirection Ministries". After Mom and Dad died, I inherited a substantial amount of money and I used that to open an office and a counselling centre. I funded that for five years until I had a call on my life to attend Bible College and theoligical seminary.
It was there that I met my Godly wife from Maryland. We were married in 1992 after I finished gradualte school in Boston and we were inivited to help pioneer a church in 1995. We moved here thinking we'd only stay temporarily for three years. It's been ten years now, I'm a Dad of two wonderful sons and after ten years of residency, we pursued landed immigrant status in 2000 in Niagra Falls. God is faithful and he can change any lifestyle because his grace is always sufficient.
Praise Be To God in The Highest for all things,
Geoff
